A Walk Through Cesky Krumlov
Welcome back! In our Christmas adventure in Prague to the New Year's destination in Salzburg, we stopped for a few hours in the most adorable little village in the Czech Republic, Cesky Krumlov. This classic village from the 1200s is located in the South Bohemia region and is a must visit if in the area! They say that this is a village where you either want to live or at least visit many times. I'd agree and look forward to visiting and having more time to roam the streets, sample the Czechian fare, and see even more.
We arrived in Cesky Krumlov easily as it was in route to Salzburg, Austria. You are not able to drive in this village however there are several parking lots on the outer perimeter that make it extremely easy to park and pop into the town in a matter of minutes! Cesky Krumlov is also easily accessed by train if you are mapping out an adventure by rail!
I don't know of a better way to spend three hours than to wander from shop to shop and stop in for a bite to eat and a cold beer, so we did just that!
Our method was super easy! Park at the Castle parking lot on Chvalsinska and walk under Cloak Bridge and by the river into town. It's beautiful!
Stop in Drunken Coffee for tea or coffee and then roam the shops! There are plenty of storefronts to keep you busy with items from pottery or glass to clothing. If you have the time to explore, you must visit the Castle and Kostel Svateho Vita. The castle is impossible to miss as it is nestled on the side of the hill overlooking the historic city center. In a warm season, you can also enjoy the Castle Garden.
Finally, stop for cold beer because after all, it's good and incredibly cheap in the Czech Republic, often less expensive than water. We kept it simple and stopped at the Depo gastropub, a fantastic location for lunch or dinner. Are you feeling fancy? Call ahead and get a table at Le Jardin, ranked one of the top 20 restaurants in the Czech Republic.
