Staying at Terra Dominicata

Loving people, incredible decor, and panoramic views make Terra Dominicata a hotel that will leave you craving a few additional days to your holiday. Hundreds of years tell the story of this once monastery and farm. For us, the hotel, the food, and most importantly, the people, make up the perfect recipe for relaxation and joy.

We recently stayed here with friends on our road trip through Spain and it seems we saved the best for last. Terra Dominicata has the boutique vibe that we’ve grown to crave in our travels. Beautifully appointed rooms, hotel, and restaurant space help create the most perfect holiday.

Terra Dominicata

Carretera T-702 Km 13, Morera de Montsant, 43361 Tarragona

Terra Dominicata, or TD, is located in the Montsant Natural Park, in the north of the Priorat region, just southwest of Barcelona. The Carthusian monks picked this perfect place to put their monastery in the 12th century! TD features 26 beautiful rooms, their own cellar, an outdoor pool, and more.

TD gives you the perfect feel of seclusion. If you just want to relax and sunbathe by the pool, this is an excellent location for that. I get a bit stir crazy, so I was thrilled with their Experience offerings. We all participated in one of the Cocktail Mixology courses with Marc and had a fantastic time! Marc was terrific, and his mixologist skills make this an enjoyable and informative experience.

Secure your evening reservations for dinner at TD’s on-site restaurant, Alma Mater. Alma Mater’s Head Chef is an Italian native who started his career at Michelin restaurants in Italy. He later moved to Washington DC and is now plating up excellent food inside Terra Dominicata. My order of the Risotto with Prawn and Roe Tartar and Monkfish Fishermen’s Soup with Cockles and Fennel Salad was perfection! As always, loving people and smiling faces make a difference in the experience.

How to Get Here

You can quickly reach Terra Dominicata by car in under two hours from Barcelona! Simply take the C-31 to the C-32 along the Balearic Coast then head west on the C-242 through the more scenic portion of the voyage! There are other routes possible, but this is the fastest and bounces along the coast so you can stop into beautiful cities like Sitges or Vilanova i la Geltrú if you fancy a bit of exploration!
